Overview
The Missing Punch Request feature lets hourly employees submit a request to update a missing punch directly from their timecard. Requests route through the existing approval workflow and every action is logged.
Who this guide is for: Admins who configure the feature, and supervisors who review and act on requests.
How to Enable or Disable the Feature
The toggle lives in Timesheet Template settings and defaults ON for all clients.
- Go to Admin Settings > Timesheet Templates.
- Select the template you want to configure.
- Find the Allow Missing Punch Requests toggle.
- Set to ON to enable or OFF to disable.
- Save your changes.
| Note: If the toggle does not appear, the feature flag may not be enabled for your org. Contact your implementation team or account manager. |
How to Use the Supervisor Dashboard
Reading a Notification Card
Each pending request appears as a card showing employee name, date, and time. Inline actions on each card:
- Approve
- Decline
- View Timesheet – open the employee's full timecard.
Email Notifications
Supervisors receive an email for every new request if enabled and in the timesheet approval path, including employee details and a direct link to review. If emails are not arriving, verify supervisor email addresses are current and notifications are not filtered to spam.
How to Identify Requests in Team Timesheets
An alert icon appears next to any employee with open requests in the Team Timesheets list. Use this to quickly scan which employees need attention without opening each timecard individually.
How to Review Request on the Timecard
Open the Request
- Navigate to the employee's timecard via Team Timesheets or the View Timesheet link.
- Locate the row with the notification indicator — this marks the pending request.
- Click the eye icon to view the pending request
- Review the details: punch type, date/time, reason, comments, and any custom fields or job assignments.
5.2 How to Approve a Request
- Click Approve on the request row or notification card.
- The punch is added to the timecard immediately.
After approval: the employee is notified in-app and by email, and the punch is flagged in the audit trail as originating from a Missing Punch Request.
How to Decline a Request
- Click Reject on the request row or notification card.
- The request is marked Declined on the employee's timecard.
After declining: the employee is notified, and the declined request stays visible on their timecard for reference.
How to Delete a Request
- Click Delete on the request.
- Confirm deletion in the prompt.
| Note: Use Reject — not Delete — when you want the employee to know their request was reviewed. Delete is permanent and does not notify the employee. |
How to Review the Audit Trail
- Punch History – shows approved punches flagged as originating from a Missing Punch Request.
- Punch Audit Trail Report – captures all submissions, approvals, declines, edits, and deletions. Use for payroll audits, compliance reviews, and dispute resolution.
